Futons provide an economical solution for convertible beds. They consist of a sofa-like frame that can be used as a great sofa. The user needs to lift up the seat and pull the frame out, causing the back to tilt flat, and converting the sofa to a sleeper. The mattress is typically full size (54 x 75”). (There are queens available, but not common). The mattresses have historically used a foam core with cotton upholstery. Today, however, we sell mostly the innerspring style. Instead of a foam core, they have a mattress style innerspring. These innerspring futon mattresses provide good support, and are quite comfortable over time. Surprisingly, they are affordably priced. The Futon frames can be metal or come in a variety of woods. Futons with mattresses range from $450 – 1000.
