Daybeds are a popular solution for convertible sitting and sleeping application. The size of the mattresses is always a regular twin (38 x 75"). The overall sizes vary because the frames are all a little different. Typically though, expect the overall dimensions to be at least 42" deep by 80" wide. A daybed consists of a back frame, a left side frame, a right side frame and a metal link deck. Mattresses are sold separately. Daybeds require mattress only, box springs or bunkie boards are not needed. Daybed frames come in separate pieces and must be assembled.

A trundle or pull-out bed frame is optional but preferred by most of our customers. It consists of a steel link spring with a scissor mechanism to raise and lower it. (It is stored underneath the daybed that is about 15" high, but not connected to it). When a bar is is activated, the trundle bed will lift up to the same height as the bed. (We suggest that older seniors get help in activating this mechanism) Also ..kids should never operate this mechanism because they may pinch their hands in the scissor ! Trundle beds do not require assembly. For the trundle mattress, we suggest a mattress less than 8" thick. The top Daybed mattress can be thicker. In the store we have comforters designed for Daybeds that come with two back pillows. Starting prices of daybed frames are $250. Prices of complete daybeds with two mattresses plus a pop-up trundle start from $699.
